Where Brakes are used, our depot based QA and regionally based NSF technologists audit and assess distribution facilities and procedures to ensure that the distributors meet our technical standards.
Compass use Brakes to distribute products from our nominated suppliers to our units.
We also have a team of two NSF International technologists who inspect the Compass nominated products within those depots against our specifications.
Fruit and Vegetables are sent by our suppliers to the Brakes depot at Corby were it is checked at goods in by our depot quality assurance personnel and again when it is placed into boxes for onward distribution to the hub depots and units to ensure that it meets our specifications. Meat products are sent in to Grantham depot.
Brakes staff check the temperatures, labels and quantities of all products at their goods in areas and have audited procedures for handling and distributing our products. All Brakes depots are regularly audited by NSF International.
We also have a team of three NSF International technologists who inspect the Compass nominated products within those depots against our specifications.
If any quality issues are raised by units to Brakes or the Foodbuy Customer Experience Team (CET) then an NSF International technologist is tasked with investigating the issue. They may visit the complaining unit and follow the product back through the supply chain through the Brakes depots and back to the supplier to find the cause of the issue and instigate non - conformances and corrective actions to prevent the issue reoccuring.
