David Crowe, HSE Director South Region and Levy UK, Ireland & Europe
David began his career with Compass Group UK&I in 1997 as a hospitality assistant and became an Assistant Hospitality Manager with Eurest before becoming a General Manager with Restaurant Associates. After 11 years in operations David decided to progress his career in HSE and completed the relevant qualifications before doing a secondment to Levy to assist in mobilising the O2 Arena, where he spent 3 months implementing the HSE Management Systems and training the teams. Following that he began as an HSE Manager in Levy UK where he has supported the business and developed a new Events HSE Management System which has now been rolled out across all Levy UK event sites. In 2014 David was promoted to Head of HSE for Levy UK and then in 2020 to HSE Director for South Region of Compass & Levy UK and Ireland.
David also assists in the management of HSE at some of the UK’s most prestigious events such as London 2012 Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Rugby World Cup, Cricket World Cup, Ryder Cup, Wimbledon Championships, Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup to name a few.
What most people don't know is that David is a published poet and has a keen interest in tattoos, he has undergone over 60 hours of ink work under the needle to date and has plans for further work in the future.

Bruce Findlay, (Interim) Senior HSE Manager - ESS DMA
Bruce joined Compass Group In 2007 and has worked within the Defence sector as a Regional Operations Support Manager before moving in to a HSE role. Bruce has worked for ESS on a number of High profile events including the 2012 London Olympics providing feeding for Met Police and providing Operation Support for police feeding for the Celtic Manor NATO summit in 2014. Bruce has also provided HSE support to other business sectors including the Wimbledon Championships since 2016.
Bruce has a catering operational background gained from a 22 year career in the Armed Forces obtaining the Rank of Warrant Officer Class 1. After leaving the forces Bruce joined the Prison Service as a Food Safety and Health and Safety trainer.
Bruce is an avid birdwatcher who travels the world in pursuit of a new sighting for his life time list which now stands at over 2,500 different spices.

Matthew Eakins, Senior HSE Manager South & Retail
Matthew has worked for Compass for 19 years in various roles. Started as a Chef, then Chef Manager, Relief Manager, Mobilisation Manager, Business Support Manager and finally a HSE Manager. He has mainly worked in B&I but has experienced a year with RA as their HSE Manager. The role as a HSE Manager for Compass is really rewarding. Every day you can make a real difference!
Matthews favourite past times is walking in the open countryside in the Garden of England with the dog off lead. He finds this satisfying, mentally stimulating and great for his health and wellbeing but not when his Sprocker named Chester leaps off walls of 15 foot in height!!!

Jeanette Whitehead, Senior HSE Manager South & Healthcare
Jeanette has been with Compass Group Healthcare since 1993 in many positions from Front of House Manager to Contract Manager, with a number of years supporting the business during tenders and mobilisation of contracts and implementation of HSE procedures within the business. Incorporating health the diversity of Healthcare to include portering, help desk, domestic service and cleaning services and more recently the security services within healthcare.
Since taking up the role of sector lead in July 2018, working with the healthcare leadership and units teams to continue to develop our HSE culture across the business.
Jeanette's qualifications include Advanced Food Safety, IOSH HSE Managing Facilities Management, and NEBOSH certificate, ISO lead Auditor.

Zoe Hammett, HSE Manager South
Zoe started working for Jockey Club Catering (JCC) on a casual basis at the Cheltenham Festival in 2016, and her involvement gradually expended until she eventually took on the role of Health and Safety Manager for JCC. In 2020 Zoe joined the HSE South Team and now supports across all sectors. She enjoys the buzz of events and is always keen to assist in the management of health and safety events, such as Cheltenham Festival, Festival of Speed and Wimbledon.
Zoe loves travelling the world. In 1989 she went on a round-the-world trip and got stuck in Australia for 5 years and then New Zealand for 12 years. In 2016 Zoe moved back to the UK and is now thoroughly enjoying having the UK and Europe to explore.

Christopher Johnson, HSE Manager South
Prior to joining Compass, Chris worked at the popular ten pin bowling chain Hollywood Bowl, where he eventually secured a team leader role. Here Chris gained valuable catering and bar service experience.
Chris has worked at Compass group for 12 years, originally joining the Chartwells team as an Operations Support Manager. Through this work he discovered his passion for health and safety, becoming an HSE champion for his patch and subsequently going on to provide HSE support to the wider Chartwells estate.
In the proceeding years Chris gained his level 4 Food Safety and NEBOSH General Certificate. Joined the HSE South Team in 2022 and now provides a wide range of HSE support to many Compass Group sectors.
As an HSE professional Chris understands the importance of both mental & physical wellbeing and attempts to practice this in my daily life. He often takes part in exercise, sporting activities and has a keen interest in music and horticulture, once growing new potatoes on his flat balcony!

James Stradling, Senior HSE Manager South & Restaurant Associates
James’s career journey started with a hospitality management apprenticeship at Compass Group in the late 1990s which saw him spending time in various operational and chef roles.
This is when he developed a keen interest in food hygiene and health and safety science which led him to successfully securing a traineeship sponsored by The Association of London Environmental Health Managers (ALEM). James went on to spend 12 years working for various local authority environmental health departments in London, regulating and advising a broad spectrum of businesses and members of public on matters relating to food safety, food standards, composition and labelling, health & safety, licencing, environment and public health. During this time, James also joined The Food Standards Agency taskforce during the London 2012 Olympics and policy steering group for The Food Hygiene Rating scheme.
Upon leaving local authority, James spent over 5 years heading up food safety and health & safety for two luxury hotel groups and an international restaurant group working with a range of celebrity chefs before returning to Compass Group in 2024.
James is qualified in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice and a member of The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. He also holds the NEBOSH Certificates in Occupational Health & Safety, Fire Safety and Construction Safety
In his spare time James loves to travel, attend music concerts and is a self-confessed foodie, he also volunteers for housing campaign groups.
